“Your photos managed to capture everything that was important to us on our wedding day and we so appreciate that you managed to capture such special moments (e.g. those precious split-second expressions on peoples’ faces!). You’ve got a real gift of timing and seeing through the lens. We also really liked your relaxed nature and the way you interacted with all the guests when taking photos. Everyone who’s seen our photos raves on about them! Having a pre-wedding engagement shoot with you was invaluable. Mostly, to get us relaxed in front of a camera and also work together with you on what we liked/didn’t like”

“Hi Grant – just a quick email to let you know how AWESOME everyone thinks our photos are! I’ve had so many comments its nuts! Thank you so much for doing a fantastic job – I don’t normally like showing other people photos of myself – so it’s a big compliment to you that I’ve shown these to everyone I’ve ever met!”

Here’s a small virtual tour of Old St Pauls here in Wellington. I post this here because this is a very popular wedding venue in the city, and its a good example of the VR Photography genre that I am developing. Please contact me for further information or visit my Virtual Tour and Panorama website Vision360.
Top of the World (well Wellington anyway)

This afternoon a photography opportunity not to be passed up was taken – a visit to Wrights Hill Fortress located in the Karori hills high above Wellington city. The Fortress was constructed during WW2 and consists of an underground network of tunnels, operation rooms and three gun emplacements. The Wrights Hill Fortress Restoration Society has more information on their website, here.
Although the afternoon was rather gloomy and windy, the low levels of lighting provided a superb opportunity to use off-camera directional lighting and also to demonstrate how the colour red in an item of clothing brings life and interest to portrait photography in such a situation. I think this works quite well.
The top two images are composites of 5 exposures layered on top of each other to create a far greater dymanic range than would otherwise have been possible in the conditions. They were taken from two different locations outside the fortress.
Living is all about the memorable moments we experience. Capturing these moments on your wedding day is what we like to do, giving you special images which will ensure your wedding photography album is cherished forever. Don’t leave your wedding photographs hidden away on a hard drive or CD somewhere, but ensure they are reproduced in a beautiful album which will last for generations. At Lasting Expressions Photography we work with the best book manufacturers to ensure your wedding photographs or family portrait photographs are preserved in the way they deserve to be.

From time to time I will feature some environmental photography taken by me when Mark and I did a house building trip to the slums of Baja, Mexico. We went with a group called Global Tribe. Please ask me if you would like to know more about this volunteer organisation.
Sam in Japan

Sam has been living in Tokyo and working in Yokohama for 4 years . Here is an image from one of our recent portfolio sessions. This portrait has been used by an agency in Tokyo.
This portrait of my dad was taken inside a cafe in Petone, Wellington. We took him out for lunch the weekend after mum had passed away, just a few weeks before what would have been their 55th wedding anniversary. Although this was a difficult time, this is one of my favourite photographs of dad. The natural light coming in from the street via a large south facing window provides broad lighting across the side of his face that is closest to the camera.
